This is an update on the current COVID-19 Pandemic from Shaftec

As the news about COVID-19 (coronavirus) and its unprecedented effects evolves, we’re learning that being informed and prepared are essential. Thus, we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak according to the guidelines and recommendations of the UK Government and taking the necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our customers, colleagues and employees.

As this is an emerging, rapidly changing situation, I wanted to personally reach out to you and provide an update on the actions that Shaftec Automotive Components Limited is taking to help protect our employees and customers.

Starting Monday 23rd March, we will be maximizing social distancing by instituting a work-from-home policy for a significant number of our employees. Anyone working from home is equipped with the technology and tools to fulfil operational capabilities remotely.
Some departments however will be affected by reduced staff numbers in areas where it is not possible to work from home. The services that will no longer be available or will be affected are as follows:

  1. Recon & Return Service – Suspended until further notice.
  2. Customer collections at the trade counter in Hockley – Suspended until further notice.
  3. Technical support – This support will still be available but will have a reduced level of support. Please use the Shaftec website and other online catalogue information that is available to you to help reduce the level of calls, thus reducing waiting time for legitimate technical problems.
Ordering habits.
We urge all customers to send over orders as early as possible in the day. Our current sales data proves that we receive 70% of our orders from customers after 2.00pm in the day. With reduced staffing levels we cannot guarantee that all orders will be shipped the same day unless orders are placed earlier in the day.
If your order is urgent then upgrade the parcel to the pre-10.30am service, which is already heavily subsidised by the Company.
Staff essential for continued operational and production needs will remain in place, however there will be a reduction in the team size that will have some impact to the usual high levels of the Shaftec customer support that we currently offer. With a partial functional customer support team, there may
be some impact to our shipping and logistics capabilities. We will also be closely monitoring our supply chain. Our goal remains to continue providing our customers with the products and services.
